Matured first in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, a portion of the whisky is then finished in six different virgin French oak casks sourced from across France, bringing layers of depth and character. The Hombo family have been distilling for more than a century and they added whisky to their repertoire in 1949 in Kagoshima. This whisky is inspired by great whiskies of America. 'The Wee Witchie' is the smallest of Mortlach's six stills - Since it was first forged more than 120 years ago they have fastidiously ensured every dent and detail remains unchanged because it is within this copper chamber that the specific richness of taste which has earned Mortlach the reputation as "The Beast of Dufftown" is created. Mortlach dedicate this 12YO Single Malt to the still that bears the beast.
