What he discovered was that if you used winter wheat in the mash instead of the traditional distiller's rye, your bourbon whisky was smoother and less bitter...and that's made all the difference

This is Maker's Mark Bourbon in its purest form. Bottled at barrel proof and nonchill filtered, Maker's Mark Cask Strength ranges from 108 to 114 proof depending on the barrels. Surprisingly smooth, this bourbon retains the signature, front-of-the-palate flavors of Maker's Mark while amping up the notes of oak, caramel, vanilla and spice.

French oaked for layers of flavour, Maker's 46 is the taste vision of Bill Samuels, Jr. Creating his signature bourbon requires first-of-its-kind finishing that begins with fully matured cask strength Maker's Mark. Ten seared French oak staves are fitted into the barrel before the whisky is finished to maturity under ideal conditions in our limestone cellar. The result is an easy-to-sip bourbon with notes of caramel, vanilla and baking spice that greet the palate in layers. Capturing the 46 taste vision took some doing.
